VERB FORMS, Intermediate & Advanced = 108-Card & 162-Card Packs + Two Small-Format Activity & Idea Books
The Intermediate- and Advanced-Level VERB FORMS Card Packs contain more verbs than the Basic- and Beginning-Level Packs; these are less common in the language and, therefore, "more challenging" to learn, define, and make use of in context. The Packs contain 108 and 162 Cards, covering 36 and 54 Regular and Irregular Verbs, respectively. That's because there are three "Verb Parts" for each vocabulary item instead of two: the Base Form, the Simple Past, and the Past Participle (for example, draw-drew-drawn; forgive, forgave, forgiven; freeze, froze, frozen).
On the back of each Base-Verb Card is a definition of its verb; users can try to recall and/or match each word from its meaning. The Simple-Past Verb Cards have pictures on their backs; participants can make sentences about these in either the present or the past. On the back of each Participle Card are two or three phrases that typically contain that verb; people can substitute the word for the stars (***), learning vocabulary usage in the process.
Three matching cards instead of two require instructions for different kinds of activities and games. The two Activity & Idea Books for the higher-level Card Parks have some info in common with the Basic and Beginning Levels--and each other--and some variation. Also, at these advancing Levels, there is more emphasis on vocabulary-learning in "traditional ways," such as through Item + Pronunciation + Definition + Example-of-the-Word-in-Context Charts.
ISBNs 978-1-891077-37-1 & -38-8 $16.00 US
(The Basic- and Beginning-Level VERB FORMS Card Packs [ISBNs 978-1-891077-35-7 & 36-4] contain fewer regular and irregular verb forms than the Intermediate- and Advanced-Level Packs. Their verb-vocabulary is much more frequent in the language and, therefore, "less challenging" than the less common words of the following Levels. Also, the lower-level materials contain two Cards for each verb instead of three: a Base-Verb Form and the Simple Past. There is no Past Participle--and no phrases that illustrate that item's meaning.)
(The Activity & Idea Books for all levels of VERB FORMS are scheduled for revision and updating. There will be one, expanded 8.5 x 5.5 Book for each pair of products--both Basic & Beginning and Intermediate & Advanced. The Cards themselves will be improved as well.)
