Who We Are:
How We Can Help

"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit."
Albert Schweitzer, 1875-1965, German-French physician, philosopher, medical missionary

Based on a unique combination of overeducated + "plain-folks" personnel, professional + personal experience, literary talents + skills, practical knowledge + truths, and life goals + values, Authors & Editors wants most of all to contribute and connect in ways that go way beyond the ordinary.  Specifically, here’s what we (think we) can offer now. . . .

  • Over 50 complete “products,” in print and/or downloaded, many in up to four leveled variants.  These may be texts, resources, audio/visual or other tangible ancillaries, game components, realia, or something else. (For example, you might want “a high-beginning, illustrated Card Deck to teach ‘kinds of nouns’ to use in paragraph writing in an academic grammar course.” Or you’d like a way to practice uses of the present perfect in a beginning-level oral-skills game.  Or . . . )

To access published, ready-to-use materials, go to our Online Authors & Editors Store, download a PDF’ed A & E Products Proven Practical Catalog, or request a snail-mailed copy of this detailed 36-page book.  (It includes Title  Lists, Product Descriptions, ISBN Numbers, Prices, and Order Forms.)  Because many of our products are printed “on demand,” please allow up to several weeks for us to fill your orders.

  • Knowledge of what kinds of—and specifically, which--lessons, materials, or pedagogical techniques might best apply to any one of your individual or group teaching/learning situations.  We can direct you toward prepared material in published works and/or--in many cases, deliver a downloaded, immediately usable sample to try out.   (As a random example, you may need a filled-in Path Board and template to practice the most common syllable rimes with a pronunciation or spelling tutoring group. Or you could use the data appropriate for a “mini-phonics course” directed at adult new readers. Or . . . . )

Many of our freebie Workshop Handouts, lessons, samples, and resource articles are available now on our Website, www.2learn-english.com. To access our memory as to what else can be ready to go with a little polishing, contact us by e-mail or other electronic means, by telephone, or in person.

  • Teacher training, staff development, and conference presentations focusing on free or cost-effective materials, practical methodologies, and generic concepts that work--at least most of the time.  (For instance, your program might appreciate a quick workshop in cooperative procedures to motivate accent clarity at an Intermediate Level of language proficiency. Or you’d have fun with a hands-on session in how to create and use various kinds of card decks to teach vocabulary.  Or . . . . )

To get an idea of what and how we are prepared to deliver, take a look at a few of our Workshop Handouts from past professional meetings and seminars. And help us to be as realistically creative as possible by giving us the specifics of your language-ed situations, needs, preferences, and interests.  Let’s figure out the logistics together.

  • General “coaching,” advice, or support in situations or for plans beyond the minimum requirements of a job(s) or an obligation. One of us at Authors & Editors actually enjoys figuring out how to “get the job done in spite of . . .”  (For example, what if you’re supposed to “meet curriculum standards” without losing valuable face-to-face instructional time. Or what if several groups in your large, multi-level class need differentiated instruction with the same targeted objectives. Or . . . . )

To experiment with mutually beneficial, online communication with  problem-solving goals, try commenting on our blog entries—or connecting with us via professional or social networking sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter. Or start out by sending us an e-mail with ideas or directives on how everyone with related dilemmas but complementary knowledge or skills can help one another out.

To keep up with the goals of the times, the current purpose of our two-person family business is to help language and content instructors and learners of basic English, English as a Second Language, reading, speech, and related skills who want effective, efficient materials and ideas that go beyond the ordinary.  Some of our products are topic-based, directed at native English speakers that learn best through adapted language and balanced, complete organization of subject matter.  More advanced non-natives will profit from them too.  Also,  instructors and students of foreign languages are likely to benefit from the principles, generic concepts, and creative methodologies that pervade the Authors & Editors "brand."

Though only a few of our products are designed specifically for rank beginners, most of them will motivate instructors, helpers, and learners to strive for excellence.  So will the information, samples, freebies, innovative ideas, and other cost-effective offerings available on our newly created Authors & Editors Website at  2learn-english.com.  Our primary goal continues to be the delivery
of maximum value at the lowest "cost" feasible--to an optimal number of end-users, for the largest variety of purposes--in person, online, and in any other traditional or newly evolving form that works.
