- Elaine Kirn-Rubin (long ago known as Harriet Elaine Fendelman) is from St. Louis/University City MO. She has academic degrees in English and German from the University of Michigan and TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) from the University of California in Los Angeles. With position titles ranging from Special Education Aide to Division Chair/Professor Emeritus, her 40+ years of language-education experience have been spent in elementary, secondary, adult-school, community-college, and university classrooms and offices, public and private, in the U.S. and abroad. Her most widely known academic textbooks were authored under the name, H. Elaine Kirn.
Elaine has tutored individuals and taught large groups; researched languages and language education; traveled and connected in a multitude of cultures; constructed programs and curriculum; created mountains of hands-on materials; produced books, series, and games; consulted for administrators and school systems; trained experienced educators and beginners; and helped out all over the place.
Most of all, she has experienced, learned, and made good, practical use of huge quantities of collected knowledge. In the 21st century, much of her time and energy has gone into “putting it all together” as the “Creative Force” behind Authors & Editors.
