Who We are:
Experience & Knowledge

Born around 1980 in Santa Monica, California, Authors & Editors has experience as a DBA (“Doing Business As”); a partnership with a graphics arts company; a service provider for textbook packagers and commercial educational publishers; and a very small, always fluctuating two- to three- generation at-home family business.

Authors & Editors has a reputation for connecting and organizing by merging research and theory with practice that has consistently proven effective.  We utilize our continually growing experience, knowledge, and know-how in the creation, improvement, and distribution  of immediately usable, tangible products and resources, conveniently delivered in as many formats as possible.

  • Elaine Kirn-Rubin (long ago known as Harriet Elaine Fendelman) is from St. Louis/University City MO. She has academic degrees in English and German from the University of Michigan and TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) from the University of California in Los Angeles.  With position titles ranging from Special Education Aide to Division Chair/Professor Emeritus, her 40+ years of language-education experience have been spent in elementary, secondary, adult-school, community-college, and university classrooms and offices,  public and private, in the U.S. and abroad.  Her most widely known academic  textbooks were authored under the name, H. Elaine Kirn.

Elaine has tutored individuals and taught large groups; researched languages and language education; traveled and connected in a multitude of cultures; constructed programs and curriculum; created mountains of hands-on materials; produced books, series, and games; consulted for administrators and school systems; trained experienced educators and beginners; and helped out all over the place.

Most of all, she has experienced, learned, and made good, practical use of huge quantities of collected knowledge.  In the 21st century, much of her time and energy has gone into “putting it all together” as the “Creative Force” behind Authors & Editors.

  • Originally from Pittsfield MA, Arthur Elisha Rubin has a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts and an MSW from Syracuse University in New York. In his multi-faceted life and careers, he has had considerable experience in military technology, adult teaching, organizational improvement, training and development, project management and directing, social-work, self-employment, mentoring and coaching, consulting, and entrepreneurship.  His employers and clients have included the U.S. Navy; state and county government; public and private colleges and universities; community-development and child protection agencies; aerospace companies; charitable or non-profit organizations; and private partnerships.

As the principal “Driving Force” behind Authors & Editors, Arthur not only loads and drives the company van but also directs marketing and business development while living mostly on the computer and worldwide web. The ultimate "Wise Adviser," he makes good use of his experience, skills, knowledge, and values as a tireless researcher, office coordinator, telephone talker, technology-fixer, problem-solver, communicator, and spirited helper.

In case you need specifics, for professional purposes, as to where, when, and how all this experience and knowledge has been accumulated, we can download or a snail-mail old-fashioned hard copies of what used to be called "resumes" or "curriculum vitae."
