In pre-reading and pronunciation instruction, the Basic (formerly called Literacy) Level of PhonicSpelling Bingo Sound/Spelling Picture Board Games supplements the teaching and learning of simple, commonly used one-syllable vocabulary items with the most frequent spellings possible. It contains eight different games with eight sheets of Matching or Caller Cards to cut apart or use as a reference. There are ten different Bingo or Lotto Grids (Boards) for every game, each with the same nine items in a unique arrangement.
Every Basic Literacy Grid has nine pictured items—separated from their alphabet-letter spellings so that users can concentrate on sound only. Ten individuals, pairs of learners, or even teams can play the same game at the same time. Or a Grid can be projected onto a screen for whole-class activity.
The accompanying Basic-Level Activity & Idea Book contains much more than instructions on how to play PhonicSpelling Lotto or Bingo with the materials. It also offers teacher and learner information about fundamental phonics, pronunciation, and spelling patterns in the American English system. It includes a large variety of innovative ideas for preparation and follow-up activities, Sound/Spelling Charts, exercises, testing materials, answer keys, and reference lists, all reproducible for individual students.
