AGREEABLE AGING Game of Knowledge: = Three Game Boards, 324 Question & Answer Cards, 40-Page Activity & Idea Book, 68-Page Quiz Book
Conceived and created as a course project in a Gerontology 101 course, this Game of Knowledge: Agreeable Aging was designed according to the model of previous A & E Board Games that addressed language learning within the context of an academic or practical subject of study. It is for anyone at a high-intermediate through advanced level of language proficiency, native or non-native speaking, that wants to teach/learn the basics of aging for professional, educational, and/or personal purposes. Ideal for use in credit or general ed courses, it provides a welcome change-of-pace in medical, human services, or health education programs. Individuals, families, and social groups are invited to use it for entertainment and communication while educating themselves and others on the basics of this important area of study and experience.
By debunking common myths about aging, the game challenges players to think, discuss, and find out a lot more about the subject. Its 40-page Instruction Book displays three different game boards, to be used as is, copied (reduced or enlarged in size), or even laminated for durability. There are also interview questions, “one-line wisdom” activities, discussion topics, humor, and so on.
Its 68-page reproducible Quiz Book offers six different TRUE/FALSE handouts and six Multiple-Choice Quizzes, also usable for essay answers. Each “test” contains 54 items. Answer Keys with additional notes follow.
Similar items appear on the six categories (Definition of Terms, Myth Vs. Fact, the Mind and Senses, Illness & Disabilities, Aging in Society, Success in Aging) of 324 question-and-answer cards to be used for game play and beyond. Suggested answers to its three questions appear on the back of each card.
(The first product in the Game of Knowledge series was English Through Citizenship: the Game [ISBN 978-1-891077-34-0].)
